One size for every marketplace
A square 2,048 × 2,048 px JPG with a little space around the product works on all four: it's above Etsy's 2,000 px recommendation, enables zoom on Amazon, is the size Shopify says displays best, and beats eBay's 1,600 px recommendation. Frequently asked questions
Does enlarging a small photo fix it?
It gets the photo past a size check, but it doesn't add detail, and Amazon specifically asks sellers not to artificially upscale small images. If you can, retake the photo closer or at a higher resolution, and crop instead of enlarging.
Why does my Etsy photo look cropped in search?
Etsy shows your first photo as square, portrait and landscape thumbnails in different places. Etsy recommends a landscape or square first photo with the item centered and some space around it, then checking the result with the thumbnail tool in the listing editor.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The checks and the resizing run in your browser. The photos never leave your device.
What about the Amazon white background rule?
That applies to the main image and needs a different check. Use the Amazon main image checker to test for a pure white background and 85% product fill, and fix it in one click.
